This year's steam gala for the nene valley railway appeared to be a stunner for this year with two visiting locos in the form of 4936 Kinlet hall & 71000 Duke Of Gloucester with support from 73050 City Of Peterborough being seen with 71000 for the first time since they met in 1954, 44422 & 22.
i went on the saturday and it seemed a good day but from the start trains were running late. things got to the rediculous point that passenger trains were on top of each other which meant they had to cancel one passenger train and the last outings of the day for the freight and the TPO which left me rather annoyed after waiting over an hour in a field when i could've been home with my lass.
it's such a sham this happened as the nene valley had a chance to redeem itself and bring itself back into the ranks of good railways with good steam galas. maybe next year the gala will work to time and be a bigger crowd puller
